The author was born in Salem, Massachusetts in October 1967, where she lived for most of her life.  She has been married to Dave, her high school sweetheart, for the past 8 years.  They have two children together, and he
has a daughter from a previous marriage.  She currently (and forever after) lives in Salisbury, Massachusetts where she and her husband built a home, which they christened "Jacob's Manor" for their son Jake.

Mrs. Atkinson believes that most of us come into this life hoping to leave
some mark upon the world, some impression that we were here or make a
difference in some way.  She did not want life to pass Jacob by, nor did she
want him to pass through life unnoticed.  She hopes that this book will be
her son's imprint.

Dawn Atkinson is currently working toward a degree in social work, she plans to work with Early Intervention parents as that is where her heart is.
